About CharlesBrenna

My figurative work is an examination of the different forms the human body takes, often within a landscape, to create an atmospheric and subtle psychological impression. Depicting altered figures and faces is a way of questioning the norms, attitudes and fears which have formed our current culture environment and our behavior within it.

My recent assemblage work is an examination of the current manifestations of the military-industrial complex - I want to create an atmospheric and slightly disturbing impression in a compact format. Creating altered landscapes and playing with scale is a way of examining current and past American culture, attitudes and fears.
